The Fourteenth Court of Appeals is accepting applications from second and third year law students in top 25% of class (who have completed at least 44 hours prior to Internship) for nonpaying judicial internship positions. Student interns are welcome at the Court in the Spring, Summer, and Fall terms.
The Fourteenth Court's intern program provides you with an opportunity to work directly with chambers and briefing attorneys, research legal issues and draft memoranda, observe oral arguments and conferences, and experience inner workings of the court
Students are selected to participate in the Fourteenth Court's intern program with or without obtaining law school credit. Non-credit interns must commit a minimum of 16 hours per week for at least six weeks. Work time for all interns is flexible. Students accepted into the program will be required to attend an orientation prior to the start of each term.
Any legal work, paid or unpaid, that an intern wishes to perform for anyone other than the Court, during the internship, is subject to a conflicts check and must be approved by the Court. Interns must be able to do their own word processing. As complete applications are received, they are considered for selection. Applications are accepted on or before the end of December for the Spring, the end of April for the Summer and the end of July for the Fall terms. We suggest you submit applications for the Fall before leaving for the summer.
Please send with cover letter the following materials: (1) resume, (2) copy of law school transcript from registrar (non-internet) - include rank/percentile in class; (3) 3 references (names/numbers); and, (4) analytical writing sample - 5 page limit.
